ageless eye stares back at me.
Swift as the wind. Gone.

Hummingbird at dusk
high on sun-lit branch, clicking
to all that he is home.

Cool morning breeze blows
the partridge down the sidewalk
searching for his mate.

Creeping still as fog
chronic illness steals in like
a thief in the night
