County Reporting Status
Propositions

Last day to register to vote: September 22
If you have moved since the last election, you must re-register in order to get your voting materials and find out what precinct you are to vote at. Don't assume that you will be voting at the last precinct. Precinct determinations are made based on numerous factors and are subject to change from one election to another. This is especially true for this recall election, as fewer precincts will be set up.

Last day to request an absentee ballot: September 30
You can request one for just this election, or request to be put on permanent absentee status. You do not need to be disabled to vote by absentee ballot. Note: if you were on permanent absentee status and did not return your ballot (or turn in your absentee ballot and vote in your precinct) in the last election, you are still registered to vote but have been taken off the Permanent Absentee Voter list and so will not get an absentee ballot for this or any future election unless you once again fill out the form to request permanent absentee status.

Ballots
The candidate names are listed in random order based on a drawing. For those voting on card ballots (absentee voters and many precincts), there are three cards, printed front and back, with the recall questions, candidates, and, on the back side, at the bottom, of card C, two measures (53, 54).

Information You Need To Know When Voting In The Recall Election

You must first vote whether or not to recall Gov. Davis.
The first item to vote on your ballot is this:

Shall GRAY DAVIS be recalled (removed) from the
Yes

office of Governor?
No

If you vote YES, then you need to go on and vote for the candidate of your choice from the candidates listed on the rest of the ballot (for those using cards, candidates are on Ballot Cards A, B and C (front and back).

If you vote NO (which means you do not want Gov. Davis recalled, which means that he will continue to serve his term as governor), then you do not need to do anything else except vote for Props 53 & 54 (on the back of Card C). You can, if you wish, vote for ONE of the candidates. You cannot vote for more than one candidate; if you do, your vote will be invalidated.

Candidates who have withdrawn from the race
The following candidates who already appear on the ballot have withdrawn their candidacy for this recall election.

Scott W. Davis (I)
Jack L. Grisham (I)
Arianna Huffington (I)
Darrell Issa (R)
William (Bill) Simon (R)
Peter V. Ueberroth (R)
